To Whom it May Concern:

My name is Kc Wayland. I am a recent graduate of Chapman University’s Dodge College of Film and Media Arts with a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts degree in Film Writing and Directing. Upon graduation, I was presented with the highest honor available to a student - the Cheverton Award.

I am a diverse and experienced young filmmaker, I have directed and produced various narratives and documentaries, both short and feature length. Many of these projects have gone to win many awards and featured in numerous festivals.  I am proficient in all aspects of animation production: from modeling and texturing, to rigging and animating, to rendering and compositing. My senior thesis, Sopor, was the first Chapman student film to use motion capture technology brought inside a fully developed and animated world.

From 2002 - 2008 I served as a broadcast engineer in the US Army and spent a tour in Baghdad, Iraq.  In the military, I earned a broadcast engineering certification and was deemed the Top Graduate and the Distinguished Honor Graduate. The degree has given me the ability to manage the complex technical side of animation and film production.

I’ve been headed down this career path since early high school, when I discovered my passion for both film and animation. Since then, I’ve learned the ability to teach myself and adapt to new storytelling technology as digital production evolves.

I am a motivated and driven quick-thinker. I am not the type to give up or settle. When I commit to something, I excel in it. I’ve made the commitment to turning my passion in life, into my career; I assure you that if given an opportunity to do so I will surpass expectations.

Sincerely yours,

Kc Wayland
